As an Automation & Digital Manufacturing Engineer at Europal, you will play a key role in automating our entire production environment at our Blandain production site. You are a crucial link in our ambition to become a Factory of the Future, where Operational Excellence, AI, OMP, Odoo, and IIoT are at the core of everything we do. More than a traditional PLC programmer, you act as the bridge between production, maintenance, and IT, with a direct impact on downtime, line speed, energy consumption, and the further digitalization of our manufacturing processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Develop, adapt, and optimize PLC programs, HMI interfaces, motion control systems, servo applications, and safety logic (Siemens TIA Portal/S7)
● Troubleshoot complex electrical and PLC-related issues, communication failures, servo and vision system problems, with the goal of reducing downtime
● Initiate and implement improvement projects focused on speed, quality, scrap reduction, energy efficiency, and automation levels (automatic settings, recipe management, vision inspection, predictive maintenance)
● Create integrations between PLC, SCADA, MES (OMP), ERP (Odoo), SQL databases, and Power BI to establish a single source of truth
● Lead automation projects (new machines, retrofits, expansions, robotics, AGVs): planning, budgeting, FAT/SAT, and commissioning
● Contribute to the development of condition monitoring and predictive maintenance, while ensuring PLC security, network architecture, and access management (OT cybersecurity)
● Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and provide training to technicians and operators
YOUR PROFILE
● Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or equivalent through experience in Industrial Automation, Electromechanics, Electronics-ICT, or Engineering
● Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation, preferably within a continuous high-speed production environment with complex mechatronics and strict uptime requirements, or in machine building
● Strong knowledge of PLCs (Siemens), SCADA systems, Motion Control, Servo systems, and familiarity with data management, SQL databases, XML and OPC-UA/MQTT integrations to connect machine data with our business systems (MES/OMP, ERP/Odoo, CMMS/Coswin)
● Analytical, solution-oriented, independent, pragmatic, and hands-on
● Strong communication skills in Dutch, French, and English
